Fed: Aust forces could come home together, incl SAS: Cosgrove=2
General COSGROVE has refused to put a timetable on when Australian forces could beon their way home.
He says there'll inevitably be some staging of the withdrawal due to administrative requirements.
He says the government needs to consider whether there's an ongoing role for Australianforces in Iraq.
But he's hinted the SAS is likely to be unsuitable for any peacekeeping role due totheir specialised training in long-range reconnaissance.
He says whatever role Australian forces play in the future needs to fit within Australia'songoing security priorities at home and within the region.
That includes the ongoing war against terrorism.
General COSGROVE says the war in Iraq will end when all Iraqi regular forces stop fightingcoalition troops.
