Groups join forces to put Coventry on electronic information map.

Two of Coventry's major attractions have linked up to help put the city on the electronic map.

The West Orchards Shopping Centre and the Coventry Crusaders basketball team have launched Internet sites through the Coventry and Warwickshire Network aimed at bringing custom into the city.

West Orchards was one of the first shopping centres in the country to join the information superhighway, but it is a first for the Crusaders.

The two were brought together by Mr Jim Harris, manager of the shopping centre, and also a leading basketball umpire.

He said: "There are a variety of reasons why we have launched our site. We get a great number of overseas customers visiting us and the site gives them a chance to look round before they actually arrive.

"They can read about car parking, opening hours, events and all the stores and our Food Court.

"We are also getting hits from local people as well as retailers who may well be looking to move to Coventry. We are linked into the Coventry and Warwickshire Network so anyone just wanting to find out information about the area can link with West Orchar ds.

The web addresses are www.crusaders.co.uk. and www.westorchards.co.uk.
